There are many areas of learning that childminders and other early years practitioners need to consider when thinking which activities, experiences and opportunities they are going to provide as part of building their curriculum. These include, not only traditional areas of learning, such as communication and language and physical development, but also other subjects such as diversity and British values. Many subjects are a statutory requirement, such as the seven areas of learning set out in the English EYFS, whereas others, while not compulsory, help provide children with a rich tapestry of learning and experiences.
